Stop, shop, eat, explore

12 Roosters have been beautifully painted by 12 local artists and placed around the historic market town of Modbury for you to find on the ramble route. Discover the interesting history of the town, the wildlife, the shops, and eateries. Modbury has so much to offer residents and visitors alike.

The rooster ramble will launch during the Town’s May Fair on Sunday 8th May and will continue throughout the summer months.

The event will culminate in an auction of the roosters in autumn 2022, so if you want to own your own work of art watch this space for information

Grand Auction

Saturday 15th October 2022

Tickets will be available from 1st October @£5. The evening will include entertainment, a bar and food to purchase. The auction will be delivered by Marchand Petit Auctioneer. Another opportunity to meet the artists and bid for your favourite rooster. If you Can’t attend on the 15th you are still in with a chance of owning a rooster. Look for the guest star appearance of some extra roosters, painted by artists Jennifer Johnson, (he’ll be seen a Calancombe Vineyard) and Penny Cole (he’ll be seen at Trehele Bridge, just outside Modbury), and Sarah Wyatt (He’s inside the Little Kitchen) watch this space for photos.

    Take in the historic sites and re-connect with nature on a gentle stroll around Modbury. Stop, shop, eat and experience all that our town has to offer. Along the way, you’ll be treated with spectacular views across the rolling hills of Dartmoor in the distance, and of course, you’ll have a chance to spot all 12 of our roosters, stunningly painted by our local artists!

    The 12 roosters along the Rooster Ramble route have been painted by local artists. Each artist has drawn upon on their own styles and inspiration to bring their Rooster to life! You can meet the artists and their roosters at the Brownston Gallery on Saturday, May 7th at 2pm! The roosters will be available for auction later this year, with proceeds going back to the community via our local traders
